I. DDoS attacks on UDP
A UDP protocol that is used for decongestion of network traffic DCCP (Datagram Congestion Control Protocol) is now susceptible to DDoS attacks.
As per this write up by Akamai technologies, users of the DCCP protocol can be subject to a DDoS attack on UDP that is similar to the TCP Syn attack on TCP.
CISO Check:
If you are providing services of streaming media, where speed of delivery is of essence, your network team is likely using DCCP on port 33. Check if port 33 is enabled on your devices and drop multiple DCCP Syn packets on your firewall.
II. Browser Isolation tech goes mainstream
Cloudflare has released its own version of browser isolation technology that promises to solve the Achilles heel of lack of speed while using browser isolation. Read more about it here.
Browser isolation is good technology solving a pressing problem. It is good to see mainstream cybersecurity companies building on this.
CISO Check:
Use Browser Isolation for those users who want an ‘open Internet’ access to reduce to attack surface.
III. Quote of the week
